Hi, my name is Krystal. I have 2 girls. I have been homeschooling for 2 years now. I am still trying to figure out the best way to school my oldest. I have been through several curriculums because she flies through it all and needs more. This is why I started homeschooling and continue to do so. I don’t really know which style I like best because we do lots of different things in order to keep my daughter from getting bored with her learning.
Greetings! I’m Renee. I’m thrilled Erica thought to start this amazing forum - great thinking, Erica! I’m a homeschool mom of 2
I have 6 year old and 4 year old. I use a mix of teaching methods, but I’m primarily a hands on teacher - projects, crafts, experiments. Like so many, I used to be a classroom teacher in both a private and public school setting. As soon as I was pregnant with our first child we knew we would likely venture into the world of homeschooling. We’ve been at it (formally speaking) for a year now - we love it, and as of now, we have no thoughts of turning back. Thank you so much, Erica!
Hi Kristin! We have kids with similar ages- I have a 3.5 year old and 2 year old twins! We have also started some “school” in the past 6 months. It has been very challenging, but not impossible. Just wanted to send some encouragement your way
Hi, my name is Dahnae (Dana). We have 6 kids only 2 at home, age 3 girl and 4 boy. this will be my first year of homeschooling. We are preparing to use The Letter of The Week to start. I am going to home school because I want to see my children excel at their own pace,
Hi, I’m Merry Jo and we have 4 kids ~ 7, 6, 3, and 8 months. We call our youngest the “x-factor,” since he really decides how our day (or night) goes!
I struggle at times, wondering if we will ever have a “normal” year. Or maybe this chaos is normal. Ayayayay… So happy for this community! Thanks, Erica, for putting it together!
Hi. I’m Tawnee. My husband and I have 4 children (16, 10, 5, and 1). We have been homeschooling for 5 years. We used the classical method primarily, though we are a little eclectic at times. We are a military family so we have odd schedules at times. I felt called to homeschooling and though neither of us were homeschooled we felt it was what we were suppose to do with our children (our oldest is my stepson, he is special needs and attends a special needs school, the other 3 are ours together and have always been homeschooled). We love the freedom that homeschooling provides as well as the schedule flexibility to spend more time as a family when our schedules vary. Additionally, we have found that homeschooling has allowed our children to explore and excel in various subjects of interest as well as allowing us to tailor learning to our children’s varying learning styles. We feel blessed (and challenged at times) to be on the homeschooling road and love what it has done for our family and our children. I look forward to all the learning in the years to come! My favorite part of homeschooling is being a part of the “ah ha” moments in our children’s lives as they learn and grow.
My name is Amber, I have 3 kids. My oldest is in 5th grade, then 2nd grade, then kindergarten. We have been homeschooling for 6 years. My husband has always felt led to homeschool after seeing how close other homeschooling families were. I was convinced after 1 day of public school kindergarten that homeschooling was what God was calling our family to do. We have more of a traditional vlearning style.
Hi, I’m Dana. We are in our 4th year of homeschool. I have 5 children. I would say I have more of a traditional style when it comes to teaching. Even after several years of homeschooling I still feel like there is so much to learn. I love when moms loving share their “this is how we do it” stories😊
My name is Jenna. This is my 2nd year homeschooling, but we had a break between years where my children went to a Christian school. We have 5 children, ages 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9. We are currently using A Beka, as well as Erica’s curriculum (geography, music and art). We are really enjoying this year and are looking to change some things curriculum wise for next year (not totally sold on everything from A Beka). We began homeschooling because we felt lead to it by the Lord.
Hi, I am Torie.
We have three: 19, 16 and 13 and have been home schooling for almost 17 years. I’ve used a variety of curriculums over all of these years. We do whatever is best for the year at hand.
We started homeschooling because we are a Military family and we wanted to give our children a consistent education to avoid the gaps that come from moving. We, also, wanted to teach from a Biblical Worldview and never knew if a Christian school would be available at our next duty station.
Hi Sarah! I love seeing other larger families that homeschool
Families like yours keep me going when I get down. Thanks for your post
Hello Everyone,
I have been homeschooling for 8 years now. I have 3 amazing Kiddos, one graduated almost 2 years ago and I have one on the Spectrum. Our style is eclectic and self learning. I believe anything can be educational. We started homeschooling because our oldest was being left behind in the special ed program in public school. We have bonded more since homeschooling and have been able to tailor or Kiddos school days around their interests and needs. I love that we can take 5 hours, a day, even a week to do a project. Love the flexibility!!!
Hi, my name is Sasha, and I have been homeschooling my kiddos for 3 years. I have 3 boys, ages 10, 7, and 3. I am currently using a curriculum that is more Charlotte Mason in theory, but I’m not too sure that I am a Charlotte Mason person. I like her ideas, but find it hard to implement. So next year we will be moving to a more traditional approach along with some classical, so maybe we are an eclectic schooling family.
We began homeschooling when my oldest son was in 2nd grade and I had just had baby number 3. I was beginning to realize that my son was not getting challenged enough at school, and our family time was not what I wanted it to be. After much prayer and nudging we made that leap in 2012 and never looked back!
Hi everyone! I’m noel, and we currently have 6 kids ages 10,9,7,3,2 & 6 months. We are in our 3rd year of homeschooling, which started for a variety of reasons. One being that we wanted more of a say of what our children were being taught. Another is I wanted more of the happy time with our kids. It seemed with them having to be at the bus stop by 6:40 and home by 3, followed by 1-2 hours of arguing to finish homework, do chores and bathe and have dinner, I felt all I got was the grumpy times. And NO time to fulfill my responsibilities as a Christian mother (I felt) as I really wanted to. Then there’s the whole bullying issues and safety issues as well, but they weren’t our main reasons.
I have to say one of the main reasons that I felt I could really take the plunge and HS was coming across your website! We used ALL of your things the first year (Road trip USA (FABULOUS!!!), the literature lap books and the K5, K4 and letter of the week).
Thank you, Erica, for providing this for us!
Hi! My name is Oksana and I’ve been homeschooling my kids for 3 years now. We have 4 wonderful boys ages 9,7,5 and 3. We like a Traditional/Eclectic teaching style, however trying to go what would work best for each child since they are brothers but are so different. I wasn’t planning to homeschool until my son started public school where I saw a few things that didn’t suit me and my family. So the following year we sent him to a private school which was better. When my 2nd son had to start school, homeschooling was already on my mind except with my (perfection) personality I was really scared to start this journey. At this time God was working with me and I finally decided to start homeschooling with my 2nd son as a trial. This trial became my favorite thing to do. Ever since we started this journey I don’t know if I would ever send my kids to a private or a public school. We enjoy every minute of it even though it might not be that easy but with God all things are possible.
Hi! My name is Jessie and I have 2 daughters, currently 1st and 3rd grade. I can’t believe we’re on our 4th year of homeschooling! I have a pretty traditional style. It was actually my husband who first wanted to homeschool. I had been counting down the days to sending my oldest to school and thought he was nuts! I prayed about it and God basically dragged me kicking and screaming into homeschooling. I’m so glad!!! We love it. The flexibility that it offers our family is awesome and I love having my kids around all the time (usually!).
Hey! My name is Kamila and I am a mother of three wonderful children
My boys are Lukas (11) and Jakub (9). My littlest princess is Emily (2.5). I’ve been homeschooling for almost two years. It’s been a challenge mostly because my boys went to school and constantly compare me to their teachers. But there were many reasons I chose to teach them and I am extremely happy I haven’t given up! I thank God for guiding us and pray that he will allow me to teach them as long as I can
Thank you Erica for inspiring and guiding me for all these (few but many to come) years. God bless you!
My name is Amber. I have 4 kids ages 11, 9, 6, and 5. I have been homeschooling since the beginning. My husband was homeschooled while I attended public school. I had big plans on being a public school teacher and having my kids attend public school. But the closer my oldest got to Kinder, the more God convicted my heart. I’m so glad I followed His leading.
Hi, my name is Shannon Long. I currently am not homeschooling but I am a head start teacher in Louisiana. When I have children I will be homeschooling because our school system isn’t all that great in Mississippi but also I’m not fond of the teaching styles of our private schools. I find that many of the ideas that homeschoolers use will work with my preschoolers and will come in handy when I do start homeschooling in the future.
Hello! My name is Savannah and this is our first year homeschooling. We have two incredible kiddos and we are currently doing a traditional style of
school.
It was a couple of years ago when I really felt that the Lord was putting homeschooling on my heart and where their are several reasons as to why we chose this route for our family ultimately my family is my greatest ministry. Having the opportunity to teach my children every day fuels my fire and constantly shows me that I am doing EXACTLY what I am suppose to be doing.
Thanks for putting this together Erica! I am excited to meet and learn from all of you!
