I have a conundrum on my hands. I want to homeschool my children but I know the history books are mostly lies or misrepresentations of actual events ( such as the reasons for wars and the Rothschild and Rockefeller’s influence on the media in general…).

Hi, one of the great things about homeschooling is that you can choose your own curriculum. There are a variety of choices out there and I’m sure you can find one that fits your needs. And at the very least it would be better than the public school system where you don’t have a choice in the matter at all.

Hello, I used the Letter a Week Curriculum and started the Kindergarten curriculum last year, but was unable to finish it because of a death in the family that hit us very hard.
My daughter is at the age approved by our local school board to start kindergarten but our governor just reinstated a mask mandate that will before everyone age 5 and up. I can not in good conscience send my child to sit in a classroom and be forced to wear a mask every day. So I’ve decided to once again pull out the kindergarten curriculum for her and the letter-a-week curriculum for my preschooler.

Hello! I’m Amanda. I currently have a four year old daughter. She is an only child at this time. I’m planning to homeschool when she starts school in fall 2022 because I feel like I cannot trust the public school systems right now. I’m regularly doubting my ability but also excited about the time we will get together and getting to work with her and focus her learning on her needs. Are there any tips for homeschooling an only child? I know we have a local homeschool coop at a church where I can get her to interact and play with other kids. Since I’m starting out at ground zero I could use any and all tips. I plan to use the Good and the Beautiful curriculum and want to add in some age appropriate bible study as well. I’m still on the search for tools for that. I also need to be able to work part time (3-4 hrs per day) from home on my business. Is that unrealistic? Ugh. I just keep second guessing myself even though I know I’m making the right choice.

Hi I’m Ellen I’ve actually not started home schooling just yet I’m trying to understand how to start my son is 5 his name is Gabriel and he has autism so I know there are things I need to know and understand… I really love how everyone on here is so uplifting and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Hi everyone! My name is Janson and I have two kids (3rd and 4th grade) that I am getting ready to pull from the CA public school system. And I am struggling so badly with this decision! My kids are both on the autism spectrum (high functioning) and absolutely LOVE school. However, they are being unsupported and unfulfilled with the academic portion of their education. I have had them on the waitlist for the only Christian Private School in our area but God has given me the heart to homeschool (which I never thought I would ever do! LOL!) I am scared that they will resent my decision, I am scared that they will ā€˜regress’ and I am scared that I will not choose the right materials to support them! Has anyone felt this!?!? I look at all the threads and you all seem to have confidence! Can you toss some towards this mama?!

Hi! My name is Megan and we are starting homeschool after February break this year. I have 2 boys. We are going to try a couple different things and find a method that works best for us. At this point we are going g with a whatever works and keeps the boys learning. We are starting homeschooling for several reasons with the main ones being our district/school. Another being the unhappiness and exhaustion of my children at the end of their day.

I look forward to reading some blogs to help me on this journey. Reading about other homeschoolers makes me feel less alone during this transition.

Hello. My name is Roxelana. I have two children. My kids will start homeschool next week. My son is in 11 grade and my daughter is in 2nd grade. Im very nervous but trusting in God. We will try traditional / eclectic.
My husband and i will been thinking about homeschooling for sometime already. The pandemic came and everything change. God help us to see this is the time. Thank you so much for acepting me in the group. God bless you.

Hi!
My name is Lara, I have 4 kids ages 7, 6, 4, and 2 months old.
I am going to be homeschooling my 6 year old daughter this coming year for second grade.
And I’m super nervous!
I tried to homeschool her for kinder but I was working full time teaching preschool at a daycare and it was absolutely a disaster.
I’m now a stay at home mom and will not be returning to work, so I wanted to give it another go because public school just does not seem to be a good fit for my daughter. She is constantly stressed out over the other students and deadlines and trying to stay on task in the classroom and everything else so I’m hoping she will benefit from a more one on one approach with the freedom to ā€œchase squirrelsā€ as we like to call it! Lol
I grew up using the ACE curriculum in private school and homeschooling so we are going that route this year to see how it works for her.
I’m looking for a lot of tips and advice and ideas because I am terrified but excited and want to make sure my little has the best experience o can give her!

Hello. I homeschooled my daughter from 4th grade through high school. I began teaching her daughter in 3rd grade through high school. She is now 18.
Now I am teaching my daughter’s 3 younger children - ages 11, 10, and 9.
Two have mild autism for the most part.
We’ve used Erica’s Roadtrip USA and now Expedition Earth. The children love it.
So I have been homeschooling for MANY years.

Hi! Welcome! I hope you enjoy the curriculum!

Hello! My name is Nicole. We live in Michigan, which is a very friendly homeschooling state, at least for now. I recently found you on YouTube and kind of liked the idea of a community off Facebook.

  1. How long have you been homeschooling?
We just finished our first year of homeschooling. Unless you count the two Covid years which I felt like I was homeschooling, just with less say in what curriculum we used.

  2. How many children do you have? I have three children: an 11 yo daughter finishing 5th grade, an 8 yo son finishing 2nd, and a 5 yo daughter finishing preschool.

  3. What teaching style do you like best? Charlotte Mason, Traditional, Eclectic, etc. I feel like I’m a mix of loving the Charlotte Mason style and the traditional style of teaching

  4. Why did you start homeschooling?
We began homeschooling because at the end of first grade, my son was still struggling to read. Because covid happened when he was in kindergarten, he missed a lot of that year. His first grade year began totally virtual, and he struggled to pay attention. Once they finally started to go back, it was only a few days a week until spring break. After spring break, my children finally went back all 5 days, but any days spent at school were with masks on. This did not help his reading ability either. He couldn’t even put his mouth in the correct positions to make the blend sounds to sound out the words. So once he finally finished first grade, he could still only read two and some three letter words. We knew we need to help him in any way we could and the school system was too short staffed to be able to dedicate enough time to help him.

Hi, I am Shelley and this will be my 3rd year homeschooling. My son will be in 4th grade. We started homeschooling because of covid and fell in love with it. My older daughters are still in public school and they are thriving wonderfully. Looking forward to learning more about this community.

Hi my name is Shantelle. I have 5 kids ages 16,15,14,11,and 9. We have been homeschooling for 5 years. We like so many other families here had multiple reasons for beginning our homeschool journey but the most important reason was the lack of faith based teachings. We have used many types of styles but still havent found one that works for the ages I have. I try to keep us on a 9-2 teaching schedule but alot of times our ā€œclassā€ discussions tend to exaggerate and get crazy! I look forward to getting and sharing some ideas with you all!

I just started homeschooling my son in January. The class he was in just wasn’t working for him anymore. He has autism and ADHD. So far he is loving it. I am still trying to get the new normal figured out for us and how and what I want to teach him. I also have two other girls and they are in high school and are doing great in the public school system. My oldest is finally flourishing; she also has ADHD and dyslexia. My middle girl is a rock star; she also has ADHD and autism. We are definitely a special family. :relaxed:

I should add my current struggle for my son is that he’s in the 6th grade, reads at a 2nd grade level and his math skills are in the 3rd grade level.

Hey! My name is Larkin and I have five children 13, 11, 9, 61/2 and surprise… 14 months! We have been homeschooling for about 7 years and we are a mixture of classical and traditional. We felt called to homeschool so we could have more time to spiritually invest in our children and so we could teach them on their own levels.

Hi! I just found this website and thought this post was the best place to introduce myself and
ā€œmeetā€ others. I am a homeschooling mother of 8 children (2 are graduated, 5 currently in school, with one 3 year old!). I have been homeschooling now for over 14 years! I trend toward traditional curricula and have finally figured out what subjects ā€œworkā€ for us at different grade levels. Before we had any children, my husband and I decided to homeschool any children we would be blessed with. We believe it is God’s calling. I recently started a website to help and encourage homeschooling parents on their journey. In it I have blog articles answering some of these questions in more depth. Check it out: myhomeschoolingabcs.com

Hi! I’m Homeschool Mama, or Meg, and I recently started a blog for homeschool families in Northeast Ohio. In my bog, I aim to connect homeschool families in NE Ohio with resources, information, and activities to help enrich their children’s home education. I publish monthly homeschool happenings calendars and weekly newsletters covering a variety of topics from AI to homeschool co-ops in the area. I found this community in a search for homeschool blogs I might reference in my blog as other resources for my readers to look at when learning about or trying to improve their homeschool practices. I have one daughter, aged 2.5, who is very smart and constantly talking or singing. I plan to homeschool my daughter because, although I went to public school, after researching homeschooling, I feel my daughter has the potential to gain more through a homeschool experience. My hope in joining this community is to connect with other homeschool families, and hopefully garner more interest in my blog. Thanks for including me! If you’re interested in my blog… www.neohomeschoolconnections.com is the website. I look forward to connecting and participating in this community!
