Hello my name is Elizabeth I have a 4yr old and a 2yr old I am looking into homeschooling but its been so overwhelming theres to much stuff out there that I don’t know where to start. I would really appreciate any help anybody could give me to know where to start what to expect what curriculums I should try. Thank you in advance.

When I started out, my husband directed me to A Beka curriculum (as that was what was his mother used with him and his siblings). I looked up where their Materials Displays were (there were two close by locations at the time) and the rest is history.
I am so glad we started with A Beka as it gave us a strong foundation for the rest of our homeschooling years. I have moved away from it for some subjects in most grade levels but it was definitely a good start for me.

Hi! Yes, starting is a big hill to climb, but it’s worth it! I started years ago by looking at the resources recommended (organized by year) on confessionsofahomeschooler.com and homeschoolcreations.net. Both of those publish lists of what specific books/brands they use for each subject, organized by grade. I used a lot of their suggestions and it helped me start crossing some things off the huge list of resources. Another website to look at is cathyduffyreviews.com- every subject is listed with a lot of the popular brands listed and reviewed.
Finally, consider taking a quiz like this one http://eclectic-homeschool.com/homeschool-philosophies-quiz/ to see what type of homeschooler you want to be! If you want to teach classically or reading lots of books or doing units, that might help too. Best wishes to you!

All About Reading (great Pre-reading program for preschoolers too), Timberdoodle (lots of hands-on), and Sonlight (literature-based materials) are some great ones to consider for little ones.

I think when getting started, I definitely tried to stick with things that made me feel more comfortable. We started with Abeka just because it was familiar and more “school” like, then we started changing out things as I got a better feel for what we liked/didn’t like.
