We usually take the summer off, simply because I love the days of just playing and hanging out with no worries of completing work. This year, we will school straight through summer and take our break in August/September since our new baby is coming the first week of August. I learned the hard way that the first month of school STINKS for us because dd1 forgot sooooooo much over the summer. So, during our maternity break, we are still going to do light math and maybe a fun workbook or something just a couple days a week, no more than maybe 30 minutes of work or so. Just to keep her mind fresh and keep us from getting too lazy, haha.
